Headshot of advisor Alan Spraggins, wearing a blue blazer and light shirt

For Alan Spraggins, AAMS®, AFFP®, transitioning from a W-2 advisor to an independent business owner at Cornerstone was a positive change for both his career and his family. Going independent gave him the freedom to build his practice the way he wanted to fully execute on his clients’ needs.

Alan built his Hot Springs, Arkansas practice from scratch during the height of COVID, an intimidating time but one that allowed him to thoughtfully develop his client experience and explore a full range of investment products available as an independent advisor. It also offered him better work-life balance.

“Going independent gave me the freedom to build my practice the way I wanted while staying fully engaged in my kids’ lives,” Alan says.

Five years later, he has a thriving office specializing in agricultural-focused financial planning and small business succession. Alan enjoys helping families transition their legacies with minimal estate taxes and as little disruption as possible through comprehensive financial planning.

“It is so rewarding to help clients create a life they didn’t know was possible,” Alan says.

Alan and his wife, Mandy, have built a life with their four kids that allows them to enjoy time on their horse farm, on the lake and in the Ouachita Mountains. Their kids keep them busy with 4-H activities, bull riding and showing cattle. Alan also finds time to give back, serving as a member of Hot Springs National Park Rotary, a board member of the Chamber of Commerce and former president of the Downtown Association of Hot Springs.

Having support from Cornerstone allows Alan to focus on what he enjoys most, using his strengths to build a business that serves his clients well and a life that prioritizes what matters most.
